Old Home Remedies For Hemorrhoids

by Granny on January 30, 2010

Are you troubled with hemorrhoids or piles? Let me tell you that you are not necessarily alone since a huge number of folks around the world will most certainly be troubled from the identical issue as you are. To tell the truth, now you basically have to believe within you that hemorrhoids or piles can be remedied!

If you currently have, or have at any time suffered from hemorrhoids, you are most likely aware that there are a huge number of hemorrhoids remedies available these days. These include things like across the counter lotions as well as suppositories to prescribed drugs, through to old home remedies as well as traditional Chinese medicine. Nevertheless, our personal research has resulted in three main problems connected to hemorrhoids which I imagine any type of remedy or program of treatment should address.

Despite of the underlying cause of ones own hemorrhoids, one particular point is without doubt. That is that they are uncomfortable and most unpleasant for the individual with the problem! Pain, itching, burning, and blood loss are never nice, mainly when it is an area of your body which sees a whole lot of motion in the style involving walking, sitting down, as well as “the obvious.” It’s not surprising then that most people with a  hemorrhoid problem immediately look for anything, absolutely anything, that will assist in reducing the level of discomfort being experienced.

This includes applications including over-the-counter lotions, suppositories, as well as medicated pads. One or two also lay claim to contain substances to numb the pain in addition to shrink inflammation. Despite the claims made in television advertisements, the vast majority of people certainly don’t experience the miraculous cures promised.

Hospitals do recommend witch hazel pads for brand new mothers with hemorrhoid difficulties, consequently that can be surely a particular short-term treatment well worth looking into. I have additionally found petroleum jelly to aid ease the pain while I just anxiously waited for the hemorrhoid to go away completely by itself.

However those hemorrhoids remedies merely treat the signs and symptoms, helping to relax the tissue and keep the area damp and lubricated. But what about the fundamental cause connected with the hemorrhoids?

Avoidance is actually much better compared to cure and you have also almost certainly heard that fiber is very important in stopping future hemorrhoids. Nonetheless, you need to be quite careful when improving ones own soluble fiber intake, which means that that you also drink up plenty of water. Or else, you might just cause or increase constipation and cause your hemorrhoids actually worse.

A diet program high in fiber is usually important not simply for hemorrhoids, but also for your general health, so it is a good strategy to go in that way as greatly as practical. This in itself is one of the best preventative old home remedies known.

Finding Quality Old Home Remedies

by Granny on October 20, 2009

Wherever possible, I try to stay clear of conventional medicine and stick with old home remedies. There are just so many around on the web, but sometimes it’s hard to know who is legitimate in what they are telling you.

A book I recently found called “The Home Made Medicine Ebook” immediately appealed to me because it’s written by a qualified naturopath, so that’s someone with a lot more credibility than I have.

What appealed to me about the content of the ebook is that it virtually covers every common ailment one could think of and a lot that you wouldn’t. Another thing was that the testimonials for the book, which I tend to treat with a degree of scepticism, actually had email addresses and web sites under a lot of them. I was put off a little by the horrible background color of the page though…  :-)

So if you are looking for a comprehensive book on old home remedies, I reckon this one is well worthwhile checking out.

Old Home Remedies For Bronchitis

by Granny on October 13, 2009

Bronchitis is a respiratory condition where the main air passages to the lungs become inflamed. These air passages are known as bronchi and hence the name of the ailment. Bronchitis causes a cough combined with breathing difficulty and tightness in the chest. The coughing can often be associated with the production of mucus.

There are a number of old home remedies for bronchitis that can be used and the most common of these is to use tumeric. This is done by mixing a half teaspoon of tumeric in a glass of milk and drinking it two or three times a day. It is best to take this mixture on an empty stomach.

Another old home remedy for bronchitis is onion juice. Apparently you can take a teaspoon of onion juice in the morning. I haven’t tried this and I doubt that I am likely to.

My old granny used to also use a mustard poultice for chest infections where she would mix an equal amount of flour, water and mustard and spread it on a cloth rag.  This would then be applied to the chest.  I remember this helping my infections of the chest as a child.  The mustard could sting however, so make sure you test this on a small area first.

Try these old home remedies to help with your bronchitis.

Old Home Remedies For Cold Sores

by Granny on October 10, 2009

Cold sores, which are sometimes referred to as fever blisters are the result of the herpes simplex virus or cold sore virus. These can appear in several places, but most commonly around the mouth.

Cold sores initially start out as with tight feeling, soreness and a degree of swelling but it isn’t always obvious that this will turn into a cold sore.  After a couple of days however, fluid filled blisters can be seen. These can start out quite small, but form clusters.

The next stage is that the cold sores start to break out and form reddish ulcer type sores. It is at this point that they are at their most painful. After a couple of days, they will begin to form scabs or crusts which can break and cause some slight bleeding. Finally, after about seven to fourteen days, the cold sore will heal.  It will just get smaller, turn into flaky, dry skin and disappear. No scarring will be visible.

So, are there old home remedies available for cold sores? In fact there are several.  One such useful remedy is our old friend the aloe vera plant.  Applying the juice from the aloe vera plant when the tingling first starts can be very effective. However, it will also assist later on if the cold sore is not detected early and will assist healing.

So why not try aloe vera, one of nature’s great healing agents and keep your garden supplying this useful plant. When it comes to old home remedies, it has many uses.
